We participated in the 11th Anarchist Bookfair of Zagreb (10-12 April 2015) with the event “Militarism and Antimilitarism in Greece”.
Bookfair program
Friday, 10th April 2015 15:00 – 21:00 Bookfair – come and check the books of different publishers, free materials from various groups, newspapers, magazines… 17:00 – 18:00 Migration, borders and resistance Since Croatia entered the European Union, migrants who are caught ‘illegal’, face the same laws and power structures as in any other european country. They are being detained and their freedom of movement and a lot of their other freedoms are being seriously restricted or denied. Since we are on the border of EU and state is relatively ‘poor’ these issues are growing rapidly and there is more and more persons affected. Croatian media and publics are systematicly ignoring this topic and our activist network is not developed enough to create certain pressure. Our main focus is working directly with those who are hit by this situation but have a chance to be outside of the walls and making pressure towards closing Ježevo detention center. 18:00 – 18:30 Presentation of football club Zagreb 041 First football club in ex-Yugoslav region with strong stand against racism, fascism and all kinds of discrimination, club which is run by it’s members, and club in which all of us are equal. 18:30 – 20:00 We are not Charlie! Discussion about the evolution of political movements in France since 2003, Bookfair is supported by local Food Not Bombs collective (Hrana, a ne oružje!)

On the cultural clashes between some “standardised” recipes for western organizing and everyday realities of eastern Europe or the Balkan area. 18:00 – 19:30 Militarism and antimilitarist activities in Greece In Greece, military service is obligatory for all men between age of 18 and 45, despite the fact that all surrounding countries are members (or about to be) of EU or NATO. Why is it like that? What is the role of military in Greece in internal and external government affairs? What’s the importance of military for capitalism in Greece? What are the positions of political parties and social /political movements towards military? What antimilitarist struggles are there? Are anarchists active in these struggles? 19:30 – 20:00 Presentation of the book “Fascism without swastika” Sunday 12th April 2015 10:00 – 15:00 Bookfair – come and have coffee or tea, look for the book you missed the previous days, and spend your sunday morning in a pleasant company… .
